Marine domestic sewage treatment plants are key equipment of THE IMO International Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution by MARPOL 73/78. The current emission standards and performance testing guidelines are MEPC.2 (VI) resolutions issued on 3 December 1976 (known as old standards), and this series of installations complies with MEPC.159 (55) resolution (known as the new standard) of 13 October 2006.
