Definition of interface:
ISO11801 standard points out that three types of twisted pairs can not be connected with terminal types which do not match their types to avoid impedance mismatch.
ISO11801 emphasizes the advantages of shielding systems, while EIA/TIA568A does not.
In optical fiber transmission, ISO11801 recommends SC interface to take precedence over ST interface.
