Inmarsat and Aces launch IsatPhone handheld with clear voice, strong signal, wide coverage - Asia, Africa, Middle East
With Inmarsat's partnership with Aces, Inmarsat launched a new satellite telephone service on 16 July 2007, announcing access to the handheld and fixed satellite telephone market. The new services include handheld, fixed and sea-based satellite phones - brands are Isat, LandAnd and FleetPhones. FleetPhone is scheduled to be launched by the fourth quarter of 2007. The company is currently working with Inmarsat to test is an Isat Phone.
Dual-mode Isat Phong is a satellite-GSM dual-mode handheld phone for commercial and personal users who travel or work on local telephone networks that are unreliable or not covered.
LandPhone is a landline solution for indoor and outdoor use in remote areas.
The new service, using the latest generation of Inmarsat-4 satellites, will initially cover the Indian Ocean regions of Asia, the Middle East and Africa and is expected to reach the world by the end of 2008.
IsatPhone and LandPhone are highly competitive in terms of hardware costs, communication rates and service quality, and are a powerful combination of form and functionality.
